North Ocean City, ocean block, 120th Street
The Sadie Hills Hotel is at 1200 Sandpiper Way, on the ocean block at 120th Street. Ocean block means the building sits between Coastal Highway and the beach, so you do not cross the highway to get your feet in the water. The walk to the sand takes three minutes down the dune crossing at the end of the street.
This is the north end of the island, which is the quieter half. The Boardwalk and Jolly Roger are about fifteen minutes away, whether you drive or take the Coastal Highway bus that runs the length of the island day and night. Gold Coast Mall and the Route 90 bridge are both close by, and the bridge is the shortcut most locals use to get off the island without touching downtown traffic.
Going north instead puts you at Northside Park in about twenty minutes, and Fenwick Island just over the Delaware line in the same twenty. Assateague Island and its wild horses are twenty-five minutes south. Salisbury airport (SBY) is about thirty-five miles away, and Baltimore and Washington are both about two and a half hours by car.
Directions
By car
Coming from Baltimore or Washington, US 50 east brings you to the island in about two and a half hours. Cross at the Route 90 bridge instead of continuing on 50 and you skip the downtown traffic entirely. Route 90 puts you on Coastal Highway at 62nd Street, then head north to 120th and turn toward the ocean onto Sandpiper Way.
From the north on Coastal Highway, we are three blocks past Gold Coast Mall on the ocean side.
By air
Salisbury Regional Airport (SBY) is the closest, about thirty-five miles away, with rental counters in the terminal. The drive from there is under an hour. Baltimore and Washington airports are both about two and a half hours by car, which is the same drive most of our guests make anyway.
There is no shuttle. A car is the practical choice, and your parking space is free.
Without a car
The Coastal Highway bus runs the length of the island, day and night, and stops a short walk from the front door. It is the easy way to reach the Boardwalk and Jolly Roger, about fifteen minutes south. We also rent cruiser bikes by the hour and by the day, and the bike lane runs both directions along Coastal Highway.
Groceries and a pharmacy are at Gold Coast Mall, close enough to walk or ride.
